KWALUKONGE CLINIC Tanga Tanzania
Kwalukonge is in the district of Korogwe, near Tanga, and is approximately 20 miles inland from the nearest town, Mombo, which can be reached on the main Dar es Salaam to Nairobi road. The area consists of fourteen villages with a population of over 20,000 people who earn their livelihoods from subsistence farming. The economy is very poor and the climate is unstable, and people themselves have very little to offer by way of money often struggling on a dollar a day themselves.
There is neither a good clinic nor a dispensary in any of the villages that surround Kwalukonge. People travel long distances looking for medical services. The Rosminians, having heard their request and looking at their life situation in fourteen villages, saw there was an immediate need to build the clinic. Thanks to some Good Samaritans who enabled us to build and furnish the clinic so that the local people will have access to better facilities nearby and reduce the death rates of men, women and children.
Reasons For Building The Clinic
To improve and to bring better medical facilities near to the people who used to travel long, rough roads to look for medical treatment from all fourteen villages.
To provide better services, especially for maternity and children, as well as illnesses and diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, typhoid, cholera and chronic dysentery; and to help the disabled and many others who cannot travel along rough roads.
To provide education on primary health care and how to know how to fight against different types of diseases - malaria, AIDS, typhoid, cholera,etc...
To have an equipped, managed clinic with enough medical supply and reliable staff. The clinic has already been built but has no funds to buy medicines, staff and staff accommodation and to buy an ambulance.
The Parable Of The Good Samaritan
In addition, who is my neighbour?..."The one who showed him mercy." Jesus said to him "Go and do likewise". (Taken from Luke 10: 29-37)
The fourteen villages that will benefit, with their respective distances from the clinic in miles, are -

People travel long rough roads to look for medical treatment; some of them die before reaching the hospital.
That is why we feel there is a need to buy an ambulance, so that we can offer services to the sick in neighbouring villages surrounding Kwalukonge and be able to answer emergency calls as well as carry the sick for major treatment in the district, regional and referral national hospitals.
Having finished the first phase of the clinic, we are now on the second phase of building staff houses, recruiting staff, buying an ambulance and obtaining medicines.
